The Cincinnati State AAUP Service Committee, is organizing a team for the HUNGER Walk, benefiting the Freestore Foodbank on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26. Why don't you join the Cincinnati State team; the more people the merrier, and the better we will be at fighting hunger. Think about the ways that homelessness and poverty has impacted those around you. The Greater Cincinnati area is serving a record number of people and they need our support, so please do what you can: join our team, register as an individual, or make a donation. The website is: http://www.freestorefoodbank.org, click on the logo for the hunger Walk, then join our team: "Cincinnati State Surge".
We look forward to seeing you at HUNGER WALK.
Now that Spring has sprung, it is time to clean out your closets! The Cincinnati State AAUP Service Committee wants your gently used donations. We are looking for Professional Men's and Women's clothing items. This includes shoes, purses and accessories. We will be donating the Men's attire to the Free Store Food Bank and the Women's attire to Dress for Success. There will be a clothing drop off in each division: BTD-Linda Schaffeld, CIT-Andi Feld, HPS-Cindy Kneip, H&S-Linda Romero-Smith and the AAUP Office. We will collect clothing until June 3.
At the Have A Heart Luncheon, the AAUP Service Committee began a quarter drive to help children with transportation to and from school. Read below for more information regarding this worthwhile project.
Children and youth can make a difference and every QUARTER adds up! Get involved in raising awareness and funds for children who are experiencing homelessness. Collect quarters to help with transportation for homeless students to get to and from school. Project Connect provides Metro tokens, but if children need to transfer, they often do not have the quarter to put with the token. Your quarters could make the difference! More Information
In December of 2007, the Cincinnati State AAUP collected donations for the Free Store Food Bank. Each division hosted a box to receive non-perishable food donations. On Friday, December 21, three barrels of food were donated to the Free Store Food Bank.
